Kidnapped Nigeria’s Anglican Archbishop, Ignatius Kattey, FREED!

The Archbishop of Niger Delta province of the Anglican communion in Nigeria, Archbishop Ignatius C.O Kattey, kidnapped eight days ago by gunmen, was set free Saturday [Sept. 14] night by his abductors.
Venerable Israel Omisioni, the Archdeacon of Eleme Archdeaconry of the Anglican Communion of the Diocese Niger Delta North confirmed to PMNEWS on phone that the Second in Command to the Primate suddenly walked into his compound at Alode Eleme in Eleme LGA of Rivers State.

The Dean, Anglican Communion Nigeria, and his wife, Beatrice, were abducted about 11.30pm Friday night September 6. His wife was later abandoned.

In the hierarchy of the Anglican Communion, Archbishop Kattey who was made a Dean of Anglican Communion in Nigeria about a year ago is next to the Primate, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh.

Archbishop Kattey’s release was confirmed by the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Angela Agabe, who said the cleric was rescued by the police and other security forces.
