Ex-Super Eagles Player ,Sani Abacha Slumps and Dies


Former Nigeria defender Sani Abacha slumped and was pronounced dead early on Thursday [Oct. 3] morning in Ilorin. He died in an undisclosed hospital where he was rushed after he slumped at his house on Wednesday.


He was aged of 41, and was buried yesterday in Ilorin.

Abacha who died as an ABS FC official had played for Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) from1996 and 1997; Kwara Utd in 1998 – 2000; Enyimba 2001 – 2002; and then back to Kwara Utd where he retired.

Abacha was in the duct with other ABS officials on Wednesday when they defeated Nasarawa United 1 – 0 in their week 35 game.

He is said to have been alright during the match and performed his usual duty of praying for the squad before and after the game.

He was like our team pastor; he used to pray for the team before every game. He did the same thing before our game on Wednesday and then watched the match only to slump when he got home. He was taken to hospital where he died this morning”, ABS General Manager Alloy Chukwuemeka told kickoffnigeria.
